Sunday Funday - Recovering from all Girls STEM Sleepover at the Perot Museum

Last Spring, the Phelan Phamily drove up to Dallas on a Friday night after Jon got off of work to participate in a family sleepover at the Perot Museum. It was definitely not their first rodeo as the experience was seamless. Well, except for the little girls who elected to have a disco party at light's out and there was no one there to reprimand them and tell them to the stop. Other than that fiesta, it was an enjoyable experience. So when it was time for my Girl Scout troop to choose their Spring Sleepover I provide the option of an overnight either at the Perot Museum or the Dallas Arboretum (my favorite place in all of Dallas). The Perot Museum won by one vote.

So Saturday the girls and I with another Girl Scout mom (a great friend of mine from SWTSU) and her daughter (I LOVE that they are in my troop) leisurely drove up to Dallas. Of course we stopped at Buc-ee's for refreshments. We had enough time to stretch our legs and eat dinner from a food truck with some other Girl Scouts at the Klyde Warren Park before meeting up the rest of the Girl Scouts at the Perot Museum.

The employees really went above and beyond for this all-girls STEM sleepover! They had 10 or so additional hands-on experiments in addition to showing us a 3D movie (we watched Dream BIG which was perfect for the occasion) and all access to the museum. The scavenger hunt provided us with a structure and purpose for exploring the museum. There was a 20 minute dance party before bedtime. For the family sleepover there were enough people to keep us all contained to the 4th floor so we slept with the dinosaurs. This group was so large, we could sleep on any of the floors. My group elected to sleep in the gem area. The sleeping situation is about what one would expect for sleeping on the floor with 100 other people. It was what it was.

A small snack and breakfast were provided. Patches were extra and not included in the price. Overall, I would say this was an amazing experience that I hope stays with the girls forever. I highly recommend this experience for scout troops or families. We also had a sleepover at the Dallas Zoo as the Phelan Phamily and that was also well done.

Happy Sunday friends!
